Vision Assessment Screening

I’ve taken a few continuing education courses on combining vision and occupational therapy throughout my career; I had no idea the impact this knowledge would have on our personal family and homeschooling journey.

My son benefited from my knowledge when he struggled to learn to read. I knew where to go when he asked me, “Mom, how do you read when the words move on the page?”

Uummmm they don’t!

Our first step was to build our team

• 1) We visited a developmental optometrist who recommended vision therapy
• 2) We completed 12 weeks of vision therapy.

Next, we encouraged visual scanning and convergence throughout our day using activities he enjoyed.

On the following pages are a list of observations to make of your child and questions to ask them to help you understand if additional vision evaluation could be helpful for their learning.
