Welcome to Homeschool OT!
In today’s digital world, it’s easy to feel like every answer is just a search away. But when it comes to our kids, we quickly realize that a 30-second video or a social media post doesn’t capture our child, our homeschool, or our family.
Homeschool OT is here to bring the human connection back into homeschooling support. Instead of one-size-fits-all advice, you get a real person to listen, guide, and walk alongside you. Together, we look at your whole child—their strengths, challenges, and needs—along with the learning environment and family routines that make your homeschool unique.
As an Occupational Therapist (OT), I’m trained to understand how people grow, learn, and engage in the activities that fill their days. In OT, we look at three things: the person, the occupation (or what they need and want to do), and the environment where it all happens. When we consider all three, we can uncover the “why” behind your child’s struggles and find practical ways to help them succeed.
With over 18 years of experience as an OT and nine years as a homeschooling mom, I know how hard it can be to carry it all alone. You don’t need another online checklist—you need someone who truly sees your family.
Homeschooling isn’t meant to be alone-schooling. Let’s work together to bring understanding, connection, and confidence back into your days.
Hi, I’m Sarah Collins,
Maybe your child walks out of the room for the 15th time because focusing is hard, or tears fall over a seemingly endless page of math problems. Perhaps weeks of gentle pencil-grip practice still lead to daily tantrums. You may feel stretched thin, wondering if you can ever be enough for your kids.
Whether you are on this journey because you’ve felt a long time desire to homeschool or maybe homeschooling out of necessity because other educational options aren’t working.
I get it.
That’s why Homeschool OT exists: to support you, the parent. I know you are the expert in your child but that doesn’t mean you have to go at this alone.
Homeschooling is NOT alone-schooling
I’ll help you understand the “why” behind these challenges and show you how to incorporate effective strategies into your homeschool day. Together, we’ll create an environment where your child can thrive in pursuing what they need and want to do.
No matter where you are in your homeschooling journey, we’re here to help you and your family thrive. Explore our resources on your own, or let’s chat about specific recommendations.
I want you to feel the heartfelt support to make your homeschool extraordinary.
Here's how I help homeschool families:
- Provide tips for homeschool families to implement into their day on social media. Follow our story and see how it pertains to you.
- Bring the best guests from the occupational therapy and homeschooling communities to you on our weekly podcast. Rest easy knowing there is one place where you will grow in your knowledge weekly without spending hours searching.
- Answer your questions. The internet is noisy and often provides conflicting information. Schedule a coaching session and let me use my knowledge as an OT and fellow homeschool parent to quiet the noise.
- Deep dive into your specific homeschool day Schedule a personal homeschool consultation where we discuss your homeschool day and I make specific recommendations to address your personal needs
- Educate you on specific topics that you already know are causing your child to struggle. Enroll in my courses on sensory integration, handwriting or executive functioning , so you understand the "why" and can implement strategies into your homeschool.
- Explain occupational therapy and share how OT's think about motor skills, cognitive skills, and social skills to the homeschool community. Invite me to speak at your event, co op, or convention.
